Strange Love: EPISODES a serialized, multi-media, theatrical dance performance exploring the anatomy and beauty of courtship, intimacy and love, amidst the music of John Coltrane and Miles Davis. 8 dancer/actor/singers, a jazz trio and a video projectionist explore a combination of themes (stereotype, resistance, terror, eroticism, violence, memory and embarrassment) that helped create a number of evocative vocal renditions of Coltrane & Davis’ music, cryptic movement monologues, theatrical dance & gestures and ambient projections — which became scenes in each episode, expressing complex layered perspectives on courtship, intimacy and love.
We will show Bits & Pieces of Strange Love: EPISODES June 17, @ 8pm at the Kumble Theater.
Join us this summer as artistic director Nathan Trice collaborates with participants who’ll inventively use movement and text to transform their contemporary concerns into relevant, forward thinking dance.
